College and Parties

In your college career I'm going to go ahead and say there is a good chance you will attend at least one party.  I  mean why not? You are in fact in college, its the time to live it up.

Parties can mean having fun and finding new friends, but they can also mean trouble and sickness. Not only do you need to watch out for yourself at these parties, watch your friends to.  Especially if you are a girl.  Not that guys don't need to watch out too, but the statists on rape at college parties will blow your mind.

Don't drink and drive.... I know we all say we won't drink and drive, but we all also know that it does happen.... a lot.  Yes, this is a time to have fun and enjoy your life, don't let it end your life.  Call a cab or a friend that you know hasn't been drinking that night. Just do anything in your power to stay safe. And don't let your friends drive drunk either. I can not explain to you how dangerous this really is.

Know when to call it quits.  When you hit the point where you notice it's hard to stand up or talk, it's time to stop drinking.  Another good sign I've always been told is you know you're drunk when you can't feel your teeth anymore.  Yes, it sounds weird. OR, buy a breathalyzer. You can find them for pretty cheap on amazon or other websites.  Not only is it a way to keep you safe, but you'll friends will love it too.

Girls, watch your girls.  Like I said before rapes that happen on or around a college campus is unbelievable, look it up.  You'll find a lot but only a small fraction of rapes are actually reported.  So times that number that you read about by like 50. Don't let her stay without you there with her.  Even if she cries and says you're an awful friend.  She'll be thanking you for not letting her make that mistake in the morning.

Guys, don't hook up with a drunk girl.  It just doesn't look good.  Not only does she not want to make a mistake but I'm hoping you don't either. If you see a "bro" hitting on or trying to hook up with a girls that obviously doesn't want to, talk to him.  Don't let him be that guy.

DRINK WATER!  This will save your life the next morning.  As soon as you get home chug a bottle or glass of water.  Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. If not, your head and body will feel like they want to kill you the next day. My other favorite is Gatorade.  Get those electrolytes! The point is though, that the alcohol will severely dehydrate you and will cause your blood to not flow as easily, and that's just no good.

Hope this will help all you crazy partiers out there!

Katie

Passion

Passion-
noun
A strong and barley controllable emotion.

Passion is something that everyone needs to have about something.  Without passion you will really get no where in life.  For example if you are not truly passionate about the job that you have, how will you ever succeed?  It doesn't just have to be a passion for a job though, you can be passionate about your blog, dog, children, boyfriend or whatever you feel so strongly emotional about.

As Jonathan and Bob said in their blog, if you're blogging about something you are not passionate about you will get bored.  This goes along with life in general.  If you have a career you are not passionate you will get bored with it and not want to go to work which will in return make you look like a bad employee and you will not ever move up in you're company. Or if you are not passionate about your significant other then what is the point.  You will end up not being happy in the long run and it will all be a waste of time.

So be passionate about something and strive for that passion every day.  Who knows where that passion for playing soccer or passion for doing make-up could take you.

Do's and Don'ts of College Parking

If you've ever been to a college campus you can clearly see that most universities have a parking problem.  At UCO there are almost 20,000 students who attend the university and only about 6,500 parking spaces including the teachers parking.  If you attend a university that has parking problems there are some do's and don'ts that you need to know so you don't rip out all your hair before you graduate.

DO'S

DO Buy a parking pass!

Now I know I just said theres only a limited amount of parking spots, but I'll go on to tell you how to get that parking spot.
DO carpool! Find a friend that has classes around the same time as you and carpool together.  Not only does this save parking spaces and you time, but it also saves the environment.
DO learn what times the classes right before yours get out.  This will save you time and stress.  If you learn that they get out 10 minutes before your class starts show up at the time and you can usually get lucky and get an up front parking spot.  Believe me this works, I do it every day.

DON'T

DON'T not get a parking sticker and then park in student parking.  YOU WILL GET A TICKET.  Those people are like vouchers and can sniff out any car without a parking pass.

DON'T even try to park in teachers parking.  This is one of the most frustrating things in my eyes because the teachers parking lot is never full!  And yet if we park in there parking lot we will for sure get a ticket, but if they take up one of ours its no big deal.
DON'T get mad or aggressive if someone steals the spot you want.  There are some crazy college drivers out there who are willing to make you mad just for a parking spot. You just have to breath and move on to the next hopeful parking space available.
DON'T spend 20 minters looking for this magical parking spot.... it's not going to happen.  After a certain lucky time frame there will be nothing.  The coming ratio to leaving ratio just isn't going to happen and no matter what, you'll be stuck in the very last row, so you might as well just save you're time.

I hope some of these Do's and Don'ts will help you our during your college career!

Katie
