"What do I want to do for the REST of my life?" This is a question that every new college students asks themselves. Because, heck, what are you going to do for the rest of your life?!
It can be really confusing trying to decide what major you want to study for your college career. Some people go in already knowing, and some don't figure it out till their about to graduate. And that just sucks.
The main thing you want to do is decide what you are most interested in. For example, do you life math? Or science? Or maybe computers is your thing? Then do some research on what to major in if you like those subjects. Then look into the jobs that you could do with that certain degree. And if you hate everything you come across then start going in a different direction.
For me talking, being creative and being a leader is what landed me in the major I chose, which is Strategic Communications. I have researched so much about what you can do with a degree in this field and I honestly love everything about it. There is so much you can do, from PR to marketing to advertising.
Another thing I would suggest is to take classes in different majors while you can. If you're undecided take classes in different fields to help you get a better feel for that area. And whats great is if you don't like it those credits still count as electives, so its not like you waisted any of your money or time.
Ask people! Look up some professionals in a potential field and email them. Most people would love to help you out. And quite honestly it probably makes them feel really important and helpful. Everyone wants a college student to succeed! And if you have a family friend in the business that your looking towards you'll get even more great insight.
Just believe in yourself and you will succeed!
